You're saying that Tanguay will adapt to Koivu, not the other way around, because Tanguay's used to adapting his game to suit his linemates, and Koivu's not, right?

The "better players" bit confused me, because it looks like you're implying in 1) that Koivu is another superior to Tanguay, but in 2) that he isn't. (#2 being the right answer, IMO.)Doogie2Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14703778878103452453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31438400.post-49313154414653152552008-10-15T12:51:00.000-04:002008-10-15T12:51:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Doogie2Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14703778878103452453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31438400.post-82692023736874187112008-10-15T07:39:00.000-04:002008-10-15T07:39:00.000-04:00"What has revealed itself so far, is that it is Ta..."What has revealed itself so far, is that it is Tanguay's play that commands the line. Koivu's workload is in the process of being redefined. As a center who in the past often had to do much of the winger's work as well as his own, it will take the trio some time to get used to the makeover."

I have a hunch that part of the adaptation for this line will be Tanguay's – adapting to the way Koivu drives this line. And that t will be Tanguay who will be more of a changed player come playoff time.

I say this because Tanguay is 1) used to adapting to linemates (Forsberg, Sakic, Iginla) better than he is and 2) Koivu is not.

I do agree that the regular season Koivu will look like a changed player, but I expect his play to closely resemble what we have seen at the Olympics or when he played with Kovalev or Recchi. In that way, I think you are right about the digging work being shifted to other members of the line.

I also find you a bit conservative on Kostitsyn's potential. He has 50 goals in him if he can bring his shot from the Philly game every night. That's because there are many goalies worse than Biron who wouldn't even stand a chance...Tophamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14157334079663330151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31438400.post-17747579512679716152008-10-14T19:05:00.000-04:002008-10-14T19:05:00.000-04:00Our top three forward lines have as much balance a...Our top three forward lines have as much balance as any team in the league. They also give us more flexibility and options on the PP than we had last year. AND Paciorcetty is in the pipeline. It's so much better than all those lean years when we were lucky to even be a one line hockey team, offensively speaking.24 Cupshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12281838355386830648noreply@blogger.com
