The Habs will need him to carry them. Lets see how this plays out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31438400.post-52234234792665320912007-11-27T07:48:00.000-05:002007-11-27T07:48:00.000-05:00At this point in the season I'm inclined to agree ...At this point in the season I'm inclined to agree with you - no drastic changes, but mixing the lines up and getting players focused. Of course, in the back of everyone's mind is the annual winter slump that Gary mentioned above. I hope the Canadiens can change things around this time and not slump, but they look headed for it.

On another note - I'm excited about the Ryder-Chipchura-Dandenault line - I'm hoping they'll spark into lots of goals.CheGorditohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10692712275320903448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31438400.post-2249986570688834812007-11-26T16:36:00.000-05:002007-11-26T16:36:00.000-05:00Hi Robert. If you look at November only though, and avg that over the season, they'll end up with 82 points, about 13th place. Since they have slumped badly in each of the last three years in Dec and Jan, even 82 points might be a stretch. In Oct they got 15 pts and gave up 12 pts. In Nov they have 12 pts but gave away 13.

This new system of OT points means a team following you is always closer, and a few bad games (see last years end season melt down) vaults them right past you.

I hope you're right. But my gut tells me this team is wrong and that 50% of the players, some of them favorites, should not be there. Some athletes raise their game to meet a challenge, they just do not want to be beaten. Others, well that is not the case.

Everyone talks about the great Habs teams, but they seldom mention the guys like Harper, Larose, Nyrop, Tremblay (JC) Riser, etc. who elevated their games. Even Dryden has taken on mythical status, but his greatness was keeping the Habs close, until they decided to turn it on. Those teams would play any game you brought.

To me it appears this team can only play within it's system. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see it finishing in the playoffs, or close. You have a better analysis of the game, and the team, than I do. So let's hope your thoughts are right and my misgivings are wrong.

GaryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
